Academic and Professional Background:

Dr. Sitesh Chatterjee completed his Higher Secondary in 1993 with 73.2% and received the National Scholarship. He obtained a B.Sc. (Ag.) Hons. (75.6%) in 1998, M.Sc. (Ag.) (84.8%) in 2000 from Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya (BCKV), and a Ph.D. (89.3%) from Visva-Bharati University. He has been awarded the University Merit Scholarship for his M.Sc. (Ag.) course and qualified the Research Eligibility Test (RET) in 2009. Dr. Chatterjee has over 21 years of experience as an agricultural scientist and educator, having served as a high school teacher and later as Assistant Entomologist and Entomologist at various research stations.

Research and Innovations:

Dr. Chatterjee has extensive research experience spanning over two decades, with a focus on entomology and rice pest management. He has presented and published numerous research papers in both national and international conferences and journals. He played a significant role in the development and release of seven new rice varieties, benefitting the farming community of West Bengal. Dr. Chatterjee also participated in key national and international research projects, such as the All India Coordinated Rice Improvement Project (AICRIP), Shuttle Breeding Programme of Rice, and the National Initiative for Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA).
